Non
collegiate women's education was conceived of as a parallel system of
education, using existing institutional facilities and buildings. It
provides opportunities to women or girls who for some reason personal,
academic, professional of financial, cannot join a regular college.
The non-collegiate stream has the same syllabus and examination structure
as the regular college courses. Every centre, JMC included tries to create
conditions similar to that of the regular college and encourages students to
participate in extra-curricular activities.
Non-collegiate classes are held on Saturdays. Classes are also held during
the October and December vacations.
JMC Indira Gandhi National Open University

JMC
IGNOU Centre was established in the year 1989 with just two courses and 500
students. Since then several new courses are introduced every year and the
number of students have increased to 2000.
The teaching faculty is from various specialized fields of education. In
keeping with the spirit of the teaching methodology of distance education,
JMC holds regular teaching counselling sessions.
The Open University is an innovative and novel experiment in the Indian
education system. For pursuing any course there is no age bar. Through
counseling in the JMC center students from all walks of life come together
and therefore do not miss out on a normal college education. At the same
time they are able to study according their own convenience and at their own
pace. JMC center gives a feeling of belongingness to the students. Various
cultural programmes like debate, dramatics, talent contests are organized
which give the students an opportunity for creativity apart from academics.
